Music at the Creek

is organised and presented by the Braidwood Folk Music Club Inc.

Music at the Creek is a festival of music, dance and poetry. While its primary focus has been on folk music, we encourage a range of other acoustic genres, especially from young, or new and emerging acts.

The festival is small, family friendly, and based around the local recreation reserve at Majors Creek.

At the Creek you can mingle with the renowned and the not so famous in a  spirit of festivity and fun.

Join us at beautiful Majors Creek for a warm and friendly festival.

AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

It's amazing to think that Music at the Creek has been going strong for 17 years now and has become so firmly established on the folk festival circuit.  What started out as a tiny local event with a “Main Stage” on the back of a flatbed truck has grown into a much-loved fixture in the festival calendar. … That being said, it is nevertheless an event that takes many months of work to organise each year  and the years do seem to keep going by faster and faster.

Most of the current Braidwood Folk Music Club committee members have been engaged in running the festival for many years now and it has been a source of concern for some time that we've not been able to attract more "new blood" to become involved.  With that in mind, the committee has resolved that, while the other activities of the Folk Club will continue as usual, the festival itself will not take place in 2010.  We will instead aim to use this year for consolidation and as a chance to look at options available, so that we can come back with renewed energy and enthusiasm for the 2011 event. One possible option is to make the festival a biennial event in the future.  If you have any opinion on this, or any other suggestions that you would like to put forward, we would love to hear your thoughts.

Our huge thanks to everyone who made the 2009 festival such a tremendous success, and apologies to all the wonderful performers, volunteers and audience who were hoping to be with us in the November this year.  This is most definitely NOT a farewell to the Creek, but a chance to take stock, hopefully recruit some new people and ideas, and return with a brighter-than-ever 18th festival in November 2011.

Watch this space and we’ll hope to see you there!
